A lovely mid-17th century engraved map with full hand color. Depicts Italy with several islands including Corsica and Sardinia with part of Sicily (with the active volcano, Mt. Etna).  Also shows detail of the countries' coasts along the Gulf of Venice (Croatia, Dalmatia and Albania ). Heavily detailed with river, mountain and place names. Numerous cities denoted by tiny red cathedral-like symbols. Decorative cartouche at top left, heightened in gold.

In VG+ to near fine, clean condition; original vertical fold line, as issued.  Sheet measures c. 9 1/2" x 7 3/4"; image area measures c. 7 5/8" x 5 1/4".
