A very appealing, mid 19th-century engraved map of North America .  Tallis maps are renowned for their decorative quality, many of the maps displaying charming vignette scenes around the map itself. This particular map shows a group of Cossacks, a Wapiti Deer, a group of Indians, an Ancient Monument in Mexico , a Convoy of Diamonds, Niagara Falls , Beavers, Mount Hekla , and Eskimos with a dog sled ("Esquimaux Dog-Sledge"). We note that the Texas panhandle is not part of Texas , but is, instead, labeled New Mexico . Above Texas is a large " Western Territory ". A large " Missouri Territory " sits above this. All of this is set within an elaborate scrollwork border.

In VG+ condition, very attractive and visually pleasing. The map has slight areas of toning which are less conspicuous in person. With original outline hand color.

In all, a very clean, pleasing example of this very desirable map.

Sheet measures c. 10 5/8"W x 14 3/8 "H. Image measures c. 9 3/8"W x 14"H.
