A desirable and very uncommon 19th century lithographed nautical chart of this section of Long Island Sound with beautiful full hand color. Depicts as astounding level of detail, including lighthouses, depth soundings, buoys and other coastal physical characteristics w/ towns and cities. Sits within a simple red border; distance scale within title box at top right; navigational compass rose at center.
In near fine, clean condition w/ a short split way out in the left margin near edge (of no consequence and will be matted out once framed). Map/chart measures c. 21" x 22".
A scarce large 19th century map w/ beautiful full hand color, rarely encountered thus.
