A desirable and very uncommon 19th century lithographed nautical chart of this section of Long Island Sound with beautiful full hand color. Depicts as astounding level of detail, including lighthouses, depth soundings, buoys and other coastal physical characteristics w/ towns and cities. Newport is in red at top left side. Sits within a simple red border; distance scale within title box at top left; compass rose at center.
In near fine, clean condition w/ some extraneous creasing along one of the original fold lines and a very light line of staining (as seen in the image).
Oblong map/chart measures c. 23" x 12".
A scarce map w/ beautiful full hand color, rarely encountered thus.
