A mid to late 19th century folio sheet map w/ original full color. We see provinces colored in contrast as well as topography. Insets at bottom left depict the Isthumus of Panama, Harbor of San Juan de Nicaragua and the "Nicaragua Route." Insets at right depict Manzanilla Island/ Aspinwall City / Navy Bay and the city of Panama. Appealing intricate scrollwork border.
In near fine, clean condition. The imprint on the map is 1855, but it is from an atlas with the title page dated 1873, so perhaps there are variations between this state and those actually published in 1855.
Sheet measures 17 1/2" x 14 1/4."
