A mid to late 19th century folio sheet map w/ original full hand color. We see counties colored in contrast; major roadways and railroads as they existed in the mid-19th century as well as topography. Appealing intricate scrollwork border.
In near fine, clean condition w/ a tiny hole off the southwestern coast (which has been backed by matching paper and appears as a tiny nick in the surface and is not at all detracting). An uncommon issue of this Colton map. The imprint on the map is 1855, but it is from an atlas with the title page dated 1873, so perhaps there are variations between this state and those actually published in 1855.
Sheet measures 17 1/2" x 14 1/4."
