A mid-19th century engraved map w/ original hand color in outline. Map is divided into four areas the largest of which depicts the Malaysian Archipelago (Sonde and Moluk Islands). The upper third of the map is divided into three insets. The first of these depicts the Lesser Antilles of the Caribbean Islands (Puerto Rico to Aruba and Tabago). The second depicts "Carte Particuliere de la Colonie de Surinam Amerique Merid" w/, what appear to be, a cross-section of the Atlantic Ocean. The last of these insets shows the coast of Guinea, Africa "Carte de la Cote d'or sur la Cote de la Haute Guinee en Afrique."
In VG+ condition w/ an eight inch tear across the main part of the map (through Sumatra as shown in the first photo). This tear has been repaired on the backside of the sheet and is still somewhat visible. Original fold lines, as issued.
