Note: to view one of 3 available close-ups, click on the area you wish to see. "Imperium Romanum," issued c.1780, Paris, by Bonne. A most attractive 18th century map of the Eastern half of the Mediterranean Sea, from the Balkans and Greece down to Egypt and northern Africa, over to ancient Palestine, Syria and Arabia Felix and Armenia as they existed during the Roman Empire. All of the various regions are painstakingly hand colored and heightened in outline for a wonderful visual effect. This map gives the details of the major cities, mountains, rivers, mountains, and islands, including Cyprus and Crete, etc. Very attractive and will look nice once displayed. In VG+ to near excellent antiquarian condition, a couple of small worm holes out in the margins backed with old paper and now essentially invisible. With expert, beautiful hand coloring. Sheet measures c. 12 1/4" W x 18" H; engraved image measures c. 10" W x 13 1/2" H. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
