"Habit of the Horsemen in Barbary, and the mode by which the Women Travel," published c. 1780's, London, by Moore. A fine mid-18th century engraved view of two travelers from the Barbary Coast, northern Africa. Shows an important, almost sultan looking man on horseback, and another (perhaps attendant?) alongside a mule carrying a women who is hidden from view by an interesting cloth covered frame. Features a fine level of detail in the engraving, evident in the horse and costume of the men, as well as the surrounding vegetation which is depicted with an eye to fidelity. The framework which encloses the view is very ornate, like an elaborate frame with swags and architectural elements.

 In VG+ to near excellent condition. Sheet measures c. 9 1/4" W x 14 1/4" H, image measures 6 1/4" W x 11" H. Rather uncommon image relating to horseback travel along the Barbary coast within Africa.
