Wool Manufacturing - c.1820
"Shearing Machine," "Carding Engine," "Slubbing Machine or Billy," "Spinning Jenny," "Worsted Manufacture," "Woollen Manufacture," and "Cartwright's Combing Machine," issued 1809-1819, London, engraved by W. Lowry. A fascinating group of 7 nineteenth-century steel engravings pertaining to wool manufacture. Each sheet depicts a different machine used for manufacturing wool, and features a very fine level of detail in the engraving. A very interesting set of engravings, very desirable to anyone who has an affinity for textiles and their production in the 19th century. In VG+ antiquarian condition, with some light foxing/fading to margins (not in the least detracting). Sheets measure c. 10 3/4" H x 8 1/4" W, image areas vary. Please note: the sheets are nicely uniform in color, although the digital photos may suggest otherwise. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
