Water Powered Engines - c.1820
"Over Shot and Under Shot," "Machines for raising Water," "Machine for raising Water at London Bridge," "Water Wheels," and "Mr. Smeaton's Water pressure Engine," issued 1812-1820, London, engraved by W. Lowry. A fascinating group of nineteenth-century steel engravings pertaining to water power and water wheels. Each sheet contains a number of figures of water wheels and their various parts. Features a very fine level of detail in the engraving. A wonderful set of engravings, very desirable to anyone who has an interest in water power or alternative energy. Obviously uncommon by virtue of their date. In VG+ antiquarian condition, with some light foxing/fading to margins (not in the least detracting). Sheets measure c. 8 7/8" H x 10 3/4" W (portrait, the reverse for landscape), image areas measure c. 8" W x 9 3/4" H. Please note: the sheets are nicely uniform in color, although the digital photos may suggest otherwise. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
