Architecture - 1802-1805 - group of 4
Note: To view one of 3 available close-ups, click on the area you wish to see. "Architecture," issued 1802-1805, London, engraved by W. Lowry (each is dated at the bottom). A fascinating group of four early nineteenth-century steel engravings pertaining to the study of Architecture. One image shows the Doric Order at the Parthenon, another shows the Temple of Panrosus, and a third shows the Tuscan Order at the Church in Covent Garden. The fourth sheet contains seven figures of different classical bases and capitals. A very interesting set of engravings, very desirable to anyone with affinity for classical architecture. In VG+ antiquarian condition, with some very light foxing/fading to margins (not in the least detracting). Sheets measure c. 10 3/4" H x 8 1/4" W, image areas vary. Please note: the sheets are nicely uniform in color, although the digital photos seem to suggest otherwise. Obviously uncommon as a grouping by virtue of their date.
