An fascinating and uncommon 18th-century map of the world in spheres, in which much of North America, Australia, and Siberia, appear largely unexplored and only partially outlined. An enormous speculative "Southern Continent or Magellan's Land" is referred to as "unknown". The title sits within a banner style carotuche.
In VG+ to near excellent antiquarian condition. With superior, expert full hand color.
Sheet measures c. 11 1/4 " W x 8 1/4" H. Image area measures c.10 1/4 " W x 6 1/4" H.
