An elephant-folio size engraved map with original, outline hand color. Exceedingly detailed, with hundreds of place-names, and topographical features. This very uncommon, oversize map is from a seldom-seen, huge atlas issued 1873, Weimar, by the Weimar Geographical Institute, cartography by H. Kiepert, C.F. Weiland, C.A. Graef, C. Bruhns & O. Delitsch. Likely due to the high costs of production and the relatively high cost of acquisition, this atlas would have had a very limited distribution.
