Bonne, the important French engineer and cartographer (1727-1795) who succeeded J.N.Bellin as Hydrographer at the Depot de la Marine (1773). An attractive and desirable 18th century map of Northern Europe and Asia, and specifically, the Russian Empire. Quite detailed, with numerous place names and long vanished political divisions. Also depicts a very large island between Russia and North America titled (in French) "Alaska". Topographically quite interesting as well, with numerous indications of mountainous terrain and waterways. A pleasing 18th century engraved map with beautiful, full hand color. Sheet measures 15 1/4 " W x 9 3/4 " H; image measures 12 3/8 " W x 8 1/8 " H. In VG+ to near excellent clean condition.
