"Ostindien," published 1849 in Hildburghausen, Germany, by Joseph Meyer (1796-1856). An almost unbelievably detailed mid-19th century map of India and Southeast Asia as these areas then existed, under European jurisdiction. Includes Anam, "Cochin China", "Pegu", Birma, etc.

The map features a color key that indicates English, French, Dutch, Danish, and Portuguese possessions in the region. It also features a profusion of countless place names, hundreds of small towns and villages. Roads, rivers, railroads, and other topographical features can also be seen.

In VG+ antiquarian condition, a bit of light scattered surface soiling in margins and some overall toning as seen (not detracting in the least visually), an uncommon map of India and Southeast Asia. The sheet measures 12 1/8 " W x 9 3/4 " H. The image measures 10 1/8 " W x 8 3/4 " H.
