A very detailed, elephant-folio size engraved map with original, outline hand color. Exceedingly detailed, with hundreds of small towns and villages located. A great map for genealogical research due to the profusion of smaller places not normally encountered on maps of this vintage.
This very uncommon, oversize map is from a seldom-seen, huge atlas issued 1873, Weimar, by the Weimar Geographical Institute, cartography by H. Kiepert, C.F. Weiland, C.A. Graef, C. Bruhns & O. Delitsch. Likely due to the high costs of production and the relatively high cost of acquisition, this atlas would have had a very limited distribution.
In VG+ to near excellent antiquarian condition.
On a c. 27 3/4" W x 23" H sheet; image area c. 25 1/4" W x 21 1/8" H.
