"Carte de L'Isle de la Martinique", publ. c.1780 in Paris by the important French engineer and cartographer Rigobert Bonne (1727-1795) who succeeded J.N.Bellin as Hydrographer at the Depot de la Marine (1773). An attractive and desirable 18th century map of this Caribbean island with beautiful full hand coloring. Includes quite a number of place names and topographical detail for Martinique at this date. A fascinating 18th century map from the important and much sought after monumental Demarest "Atlas Encyclopedic". In near excellent, clean condition, beautifully hand colored, on a c. 10 1/2" W x 14 1/2" H sheet, image measures 8 " W x 12 1/4" H. Truly a lovely example of this nice map.
