A very charming world in spheres map which presents California as an island on a scroll world map, an astrolobe/ armillary sphere sitting on the table above it. A cherub points to the sphere while holding a long scroll of zodiac signs. Delightful and most appealing visually.
Scarce 17th century map, here found beautifully hand colored.
In near fine antiquarian condition, a bit of gentle age wear and a faint stain in top margin (outside printed area) in no way detracting on a c. 5 " W x 7 1/2 " H sheet (image size is c. 4 " W x 5 1/2 " H).
