"gehört in den 4tentheil. Stamin Mappen der Hertzogen von Savoyën.," issued Frankfort, 1719 by A.M. Mallet. Mallet was a well-traveled military engineer and geographer who worked in 17th century France under King Louis XIV. This wonderful Armorial shield is from his scarce monumental work "Description de L'Univers."
Surely not common and thus very desirable. In excellent antiquarian condition with attractive full hand color on a c. 6 1/2" W x 8 1/4" H sheet (image size is c. 4 1/2" W x 5 7/8" H).
