A fine 17th century map of growing tobacco by A.M. Mallet. Mallet was a well traveled military engineer and geographer who worked in 17th century Paris under King Louis XIV. From his monumental "Description de L'Univers". With decorative title banner and a charming 17th century feel, including a clearly European man supervising black slaves. Location would appear to be a caribbean island.

In excellent, clean antiquarian condition with attractive full hand color.  On a c.  6  1/2 ” W x  7  3/4 ” H sheet (engraved image size is  4 " x  5  1/2 ").
