Sweden and Norway

Cartographer: Tallis (Rapkin)
Full Title: “Sweden and Norway”
Published: c. 1845-51, London

An attractive mid-19th Century engraved map with hand-coloring, set within an attractive, ornate border for which Tallis is famous. One of the last genuinely decorative series of maps produced in the 19th Century before cartography's growing emphasis upon precision and accuracy overcame all ornamental "distractions." Here issued in the less common folding format with beautiful hand coloring.
