A delightful 18th Century German miniature map of the Netherlands. Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717-1777) was a skillful German publisher and engraver who married the daughter of the elder Matthaus Seutter (1678-1756, geographer to the Imperial Court). He engraved many of Seutter's maps and published these charming miniatures shortly after succeeding to the business in 1756.
The title page of the atlas, not included with the featured map. This uncommon little gem is characterized by a lovely title cartouche, expert engraving and fine original period hand color. It is from his c. 1760-62 "Atlas Geographicus portabilis," a very scarce pocket atlas. Fine, clean condition on a c. 5.2” W x 4.1” H sheet. Order Form:
