Splendid early to mid-19th century full leather binding. Decorative gilt-stamped spine compartments w/ a fine shelf appearance. Boards are ruled in gilt. Top board detached. Lovely patterned gilt inner dentelles. Text block bound tightly. a.e.g. 

Mostly clean internally w/ an engraved frontis and several vignettes throughout. Illustrations designed and drawn by Mr. Thurston. Light staining confined to top of title page and frontis (as shown in the image). Inscribed on second endpaper. Blue marbled endpapers. 

In VG clean condition. A gorgeous signed binding which deserves repair of the front board.
