Signed by the author.  A charming early 20th century pictorial green publisher's cloth Smooth spine and top board are ruled w/ green embossed "chicken" motifs. Title embossed in brown on spine, gilt on top board. Top board also w/ central embossed house in black and light green. Spine cloth rubbed at ends w/ minor chipping. Binding tight and sound. 

Mostly very clean internally. Contains color plates - ten full page illustrations throughout. Frontis, w/ tissue guard, shows "Now, Mother, do you like Julia Carey?". Title page printed in black and red. 

In VG+ clean condition. A much nicer example of this illustrated children's book than typically encountered; signed by the author. 

Book measures 5 1/2" x 7 1/2." 356 pp.
