Four early 20th century volumes in black half leather binding. Spines in six compartments w/ gilt title and volume number, raised bands - nice shelf appearance. Half black leather and black cloth boards, leather slightly scuffed at corners (easily leather dressed to be virtually unnoticeable). One of the volumes top board cloth is sunned (as shown in the photo). Binding tight and sound.
Mostly clean internally w/ ex-libris bookplate and very scattered stamps. A fantastic science reference spanning forty-eight years. Scattered illustrations from photographs and text drawings & schematics. Covers all manner of late 19th century science including the latest in optics, fossil theory, chemistry, electricity, astronomy and cultural and physical anthropology.
In VG+ condition - attractive bindings w/ a nice shelf appeal. Contents are incredible in their
breadth in an easy to read format and w/ several line drawings and photographs within the text. Great scientific historical w/ a profusion of topics fresh to the time periods indicated.
Books measure c. 8 1/4" x 10 3/4".
