Two volume set in period full leather bindings, decorative embossed boards and spines, steel engraved frontis and plates throughout. Very clean private ex-library w/ light stamps on the rear of a couple of plates and small blank pockets on rear boards- otherwise no external; signs of this and very easy to miss when looking the set over. Marbled endpapers.

Volume One contains 18 steel engraved plates (including 7 battle and city views). Frontis depicts Abraham Lincoln. Also contains several wood-engraved maps. Front hinge cracked. Volume Two contains 10 steel engraved plates (including 3 battle and city views). Frontis depicts Ulysess S. Grant. Additionally, contains several wood-engraved maps. 

In VG+ condition, shelf wear, some plates foxed. Each volume measures 7" x 10".
