Three leather bound volumes contain six parts: "Burns" by Principal Shairp, 1910; "Chaucer" by Adolphus Willliam Ward, 1908; "Samuel Johnson" by Leslie Stephen, 1914; William Morris by Alfred Noyes, 1914; "Alexander Pope" by Leslie Stephen, 1911 and " Sir Walter Scott" by Richard H. Hutton, n.d. This last is published in New York by Harper & Brothers, Publishers (all the others in London). 

A three volume set of black half leather bindings w/ an appealing shelf appearance. Gilt-ruled spines in six compartments w/ gilt title and authors, central gilt devices and raised bands; leather very gently rubbed in spots. Black half leather and blue cloth boards are ruled in gilt; boards suffer dampstaining along edges which does not extend into the interior. Bindings tight and sound. Mostly very clean internally w/ six full title pages. Marbled endpapers. 

In Good+ condition, overall - clean contents w/ a fine shelf appearance. 

Books measure c. 5" x 7 3/4".
