A charming 19th century publisher's period brown cloth binding. Cloth ornately embossed in black w/ title on smooth spine and top board, bottom board tooled in blind. Cloth very gently frayed at spine ends, overall, very clean. Binding tight and sound. 

Mostly very clean internally w/ a profusion of woodcut illustrations depicting the West and the Pacific coast. Includes numerous double page engravings showing the landscape. Title explains it all. w/ many ads and maps. Paper cracked at hinges. 

In VG++ condition. A scarce and highly desirable illustrated 19th century guide to the west. 

Book measures c. 5 3/4" x 8 1/4". 276 pp
