Limited numbered editions. An
attractive two volume set of early 20th century red three-quarter leather
bindings. Ornate spines w/ gilt title and central gilt floral devices;
spine leather gently rubbed at extremities. Three-quarter leather and blue
marbled paper covered boards are mostly bright and clean w/ minor wear.
Front joint of volume one cracked. Bindings tight and sound. Deckled
edges. Mostly
very clean internally w/ twelve full page illustrations including two color
frontispieces. Plates have descriptive paper guards written in red.
Title pages printed in black and red. Limited, numbered edition of which
is this is numbered 16/1000. Marbled endpapers match boards. Front
hinge of volume one cracked. An
appealing two volume set of red leather bindings. Limited, numbered edition
which is uncommon bound in leather (most often found in cloth); scarce, thus.
Nicer than our images suggest. Books measure c. 6 1/4" x 9". 399 / 400
