An early 19th century full leather binding ( Exeter, New Hampshire). Binding extremities are chipped w/ leather loss but leather remains supple and smooth. A tight, sound example (second signature slightly sprung).

Text block is uniformly gently age-toned throughout on this handmade paper. Of note is the early 19th century bookplate "The Property of William Safford, Exeter.".  Ad at rear for an Exeter bookstore "Henry Ranlet, has constantly for sale, at his Book-store, Exeter , a handsome assortment of school books & stationary. Also, the improved, sixth edition of the Village Harmony. The various branches of letter-press printing, executed on modern terms. CASH, given for linen, cotton, and woollen rags." 

Complete in one leather bound volume (all eight books present).

In VG to VG+ condition, overall.  An nice example of this early American leather binding w/ period bookplate and ad.

Book measures c. 4" x 5 3/4".
