A
mid-19th century hardcover binding w/ red leather spine. Smooth spine in gilt
ruled compartments w/ gilt title, gilt number; leather rubbed and slightly
chipped at spine ends. Paper covered boards are lightly soiled w/ edgewear,
former owner's signature on top board. Binding tight and sound.
Text
block exhibits scattered soiling and light age-toning/foxing. Includes six
wood-cut engravings which are frontispieces for each short story (six stories in
this volume). Stories include: the play "Eton Montem", "Waste
Not, Want Not", "Forgive and Forget", "White Pigeon",
"The Bracelets" and "The Mimic". Light notations/drawings on
endpapers and blank pages between stories, former owner's ink inscription on
f.f.e. Hinges cracked.
In
VG to VG+ condition, overall. Please note: this is volume three from a three
volume set, but, these short stories do stand alone. Appears to be an uncommon
American edition w/ six woodcut engravings.
Book measures c. 3 3/4" x 5 7/8".
