A charming mid-18th century full calf leather binding. Ornately gilt spine in six compartments w/ gilt title and raised bands, leather gently rubbed along extremities w/ chipping at spine tail. Leather boards are, overall, supple w/ some rubbing, leather rubbed from board corners. Rear joint tender, front joint leather rubbed, cracked at ends but both holding firmly. Binding tight and sound. Red edges. Text block is mostly clean w/ light, very scattered, foxing. Text in French. Marbled endpapers. In VG+ condition w/ an appealing shelf appearance.
