A mid-19th century two volume matching set, complete in gorgeous full tree calf bindings. Spines in patterned gilt ruled compartments, gilt titles on contrasting leather labels, spine shows some very minor chipping. Board leather is smooth and supple. Minimal shelfwear. Front joints very gently rubbed. Bindings tight and sound. Mostly very clean internally w/ 2 engraved maps of Germany, and 199 fine engraved plates, many of a historical nature, and many showing wonderful views of city, with well known buildings, churches, etc., and street scenes with people. Very scattered light foxing. In VG+ near fine condition. An appealing set of 19th century full leather bindings w/ engraved plates.
