An ornately embossed and gilt early 20th century red publisher's cloth binding. Smooth spine w/ gilt title, author and publisher and large central profile of the Man in the Mountain, spine cloth only very gently rubbed. Boards are mostly bright and clean, front board w/ intricate embossed-ruled boards and central gilt title, author and mountain scene, gilt gently rubbed at center. Binding tight and sound. t.e.g. Other edges deckled.
Mostly clean internally with forty-six lithographed plates from photographs showing the White Mountains.
In fine clean bright condition. As lovely and clean an example as one could ever hope to find and a wonderful depiction of New Hampshire's open spaces w/ a profusion of b&w photographs.
Book measures c. 6 1/8" x 8 3/4." 311 pp
