Edgeworth's Moral Tales - 1857
A very appealing mid-19th century period half leather binding. Highly decorative gilt spine w/ devices, gilt title on contrasting red leather label - very attractive shelf appearance. Half leather and marbled paper covered boards are rubbed w/ light edge and corner wear. Joint leather gently rubbed in just a couple of spots. (actual spine leather is a darker brown than the photo indicates - a nice rich brown color) Mostly clean internally w/ engravings throughout. Engraved frontis depicts a boy reading at a table w/ a man and young woman looking over him, "Forester." A couple of signatures are a bit sprung, but this does not effect the integrity of the binding- still firmly bound, tight and very nice. In VG+ to near fine clean bright condition; uncommon in such a fine 19th century leather binding. Measures 4 1/2" x 7." 414pp Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
