Concord, NH Directory - 1853

Author:

Full Title :

Concord Directory Containing the Names, Occupations, and Residence of the Inhabitants of Concord Centre Village, with Other Matters of Great Local Interest

Published:

Concord: Charles L. Wheler, 1853 - 4

A mid-19th century period brown publisher's cloth.  Boards ornately tooled in blind, gilt title on top board.  Cloth chipped at spine and board extremities, split at rear joint but holding firmly.  Binding tight and sound.

Mostly clean internally w/ a large fold-out city plan, several wood-engraved views of prominent buildings, period ads, and exhaustive list of Concord residents, their professions and their addresses.  Folding "Badger's New Map of Concord" w/ 23 building numbered and referenced in the key, quite interesting - the sheet is done in black w/ the streets in white, sheet slightly wrinkled.  Front hinge repaired w/ red binder's tape.

In VG+ condition; a scarce 19th century directory for Concord, New Hampshire.  Great for genealogical or other research or simply enjoyable to peruse.

Measures 4" x 6."  Folding map measures c. 5 7/8" x 9 1/2."   89 pp + ads.
