An attractive late 19th century period 1/2 leather binding, title in gilt on spine in six decorative gilt-tooled compartments, slightly raised bands; leather (and gilt) gently rubbed. Half leather boards are mostly clean w/ gray and white marbled paper, leather is smooth and supple w/ minimal wear leather slightly darkened on binding extremities and a bit crackled but still supple. Leather along joints gently rubbed w/ small nicks at joint heads. Still, overall, binding remains tight and sound. Red edges.
Mostly very clean internally w/ several illustrations and a fold-out map at rear of the Malay peninsula.
In VG+ condition, sound, tight binding, very clean, gently worn. An attractive 19th century decorative leather binding. Nice example and scarce in period leather.
