A late 19th century period half red leather binding. Smooth spine in five gilt-ruled compartments, gilt title; leather is rubbed, chipped to headband. Half red leather and black cloth boards are mostly clean, leather chipped along board edge and corners - leather remains smooth and supple and the wear in no way affects the integrity of the binding. Joints cracked at tail. Binding and text block tight, sound and clean.
A classic Portsmouth New Hampshire title, very uncommon to find this in old leather binding.
Book measures c. 6 1/4" x 9 1/4". 381 pp.
