An early 20th century folio hardcover. Smooth, black cloth spine is gilt ruled with gilt title and publisher. Brown paper covered boards, gilt title on top board; frayed board corners on top board, otherwise only minimal wear - a clean example. Binding tight and sound. Text block is tight and very clean with 200 full page b&w plates. Illustrations depict a comprehensive view at terra cotta structures and art with a focus on the numerous motifs. We see the architecture of Certosa di Pavia, Palazzo Bevilacqua, Santa Maria Della Grazie, Ospedale Maggiore and numerous churches, just to name a few from this profusely illustrated study. Previous owner's inscription on f.f.e. Overall, in VG+ to near fine condition. A clean example of this first edition folio board binding with two hundred photographs.
