An ornately gilt and embossed early 20th century publisher's period blue cloth binding. Smooth spine adorned with gilt title and embossed theatre masks and floral devices. Top board with similar gilt and embossed designs, lovely blindtooled nautical device in background. Cloth exhibits light staining. Binding is tight and sound.
Text block is mostly clean with a profusion (42, to be exact) of beautiful color and b&w full page and numerous text illustrations by Christy. Each page of text has a charming light blue illustration in the background. Every page is a thick, high quality type which appears to have warded off any advance of foxing although there is a couple of pages with a little staining in the far page margin which appears to be binder's glue. Charming illustrated endpapers .
In all, a nice example of this splendid early 20th century illustrated Longfellow.
Book measures c. 7 5/8" x 10." 152 pp.
