Bible - 1847
A handsome early 19th century period full red leather binding with leather clasp. Gilt title and gilt-ruled compartments on smooth spine. Leather binding is in one piece that wraps around the small book and fastens; the leather is only very gently worn - appears to have been well-loved and much-used as it fits right into a shirt pocket. Binding tight and sound. a.e.g. Text block mostly clean and tight, light, scattered foxing and light soiling throughout. Lovely marbled endpapers. Several engraved plates. Last free endpaper missing. Hinges cracked but holding firm. Overall, a charming example of this early 19th century full red leather travel binding. Uncommon to find this type of binding still intact. Book measures c. 4 3/8" H x 3 1/4". c. 1200 pp. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
