An early 20th century green cloth binding. Gilt title and central gilt torch on smooth spine, cloth very gently worn at spine ends. Cloth is, overall, bright and clean; boards are gently rubbed, central gilt logo "For the Increase and Diffusion of Knowledge Among Men - Smithsonian Institution Washington, 1846 - Per Orbem" on top board, gilt is bright. Binding and text block are, in all, sound and clean.
In all, a clean example of this early 20th government binding in green cloth; scarce in this binding as it was originally issued in printed wraps.
Book measures c. 9 1/4" H x 6 1/4". 723 pp.
