Alexandria and Her Schools - 1854
A handsome mid-19th century period full leather binding. Gilt title on contrasting green leather label, gilt raised bands; leather gently rubbed at spine extremities. Gilt and blindtool-ruled leather boards are smooth and supple, leather lightly rubbed along joints, edges and at corners. Lovely patterned gilt inner dentelles. Binding very slightly cocked (easily remedied with a book press or standing properly for a while), but overall tight and sound. Text block mostly clean, uniform age-toning throughout; clean ex-libris. Bookplate at front, pocket mostly removed from rear and number in ink on title page. No external signs of the library and almost none within the text block aside from the small letters on the t.p. In all, an attractive mid-19th century full leather binding and a scarce series of lectures. Rare in this fine binding. Book measures c. 7 1/4" H x 5". 172 pp. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
