A lovely two volume set of blindtooled mid-19th century publisher's green pebbled cloth bindings. Blind tooled spines display gilt title, volume and publisher; cloth slightly frayed at spine ends. Boards, similarly blind tooled, display large central gilt Napoleonic coats of arms on top boards; cloth, all around, gently rubbed but clean, volume two has a small stain on the front board (visible in the photo). Board corners slightly bumped. Bindings tight and sound. Deckled edges.
Mostly clean internally, light very scattered soiling exhibited on few pages only. Even, gentle uniform age-toning throughout. A lovely and attractive set, well preserved. 390 pp. / 382 pp.
Books measure c. 9" H x 6".
