Here is an extraordinarily attractive, heavily gilt late 19th century, period three-quarter red leather binding. Intricately patterned BRIGHT gilt down spine; gilt title, date and author, raised bands - immensely attractive shelf appearance. Three-quarter gilt-ruled red leather and marbled boards are bright and clean; boards exhibit minimal rubbing and some edgewear with the leather only slightly frayed at the corners.  Binding tight and sound. Edges deckled, t.e.g.

Mostly very clean internally with numerous full page photographs of miniatures - eight-seven reproduced miniatures in all. Frontis depicts full color miniature, "Mre. Alexander Bleecker - By Edward Greene Malbone".  Title page nicely printed in black and red.

Overall, a very attractive late 19th century text, appears to be quite rare in a fine leather binding.

Book measures c. 8 3/8" H x 5 1/4".  259 pp.
