l'Art dans la Maison - c. 1890
A handsome early 19th century period half black leather binding. Six gilt-ruled compartments, gilt title and author, raised bands. Leather on boards ruled in gilt, marble paper boards; exhibits minimal shelf wear, minor wear at top corners - leather supple, crisp and clean. Joints very slightly worn. Binding tight and sound. Top-edge gilt, deckled edges. Very clean internally, over 50 full page plates (many in color and with tissue guards) and hundreds of illustrations depicting all manner of French art, including furniture and pottery. Full color frontis "Vitrail de Style Epoque Louis XIII", title page printed in alternating black and red ink with central reclining female figure reading a book. Bookplate from Lynn Public Library is the only indication that this copy is ex-libris- very clean otherwise. In all, a very beautiful book full of wonderful depictions of art. Book measures c. 8 3/4" W x 12 1/4" H. A large heavy book, so slightly higher shipping applies. 411 pp. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
