Author: translated by James A. Dorr
Full Title: Napoleonic Ideas. Des Idees Napoleoniennes, pare le Prince Napoleon-Louis Bonaparte. Brussels: 1839
Published:

New York, 1859: D. Appleton & Company

A charming mid-19th century publisher's period pebbled green cloth binding. Gilt title on smooth spine, decorative gilt bee near spine tail; cloth very gently rubbed at head and tail. Front board displays gilt title and gilt bee within a honeycomb circle; bright, clean boards gently rubbed, cloth worn at corners. Cloth worn at head of front joint. Binding tight and sound. Text block mostly clean. Previous owners' inscriptions (?) on free endpaper, "C Van Anderson - New York City - May 1859 - Hervey VA. Anderson". Recent publications by D. Appleton & Company at rear.

Dorr's 1859 translation is the first American edition of the ideas of the nephew of Napoleon I. Napoleon-Louis did not live long enough to ascend the throne as Emperor of France. An interesting mid-19th century text by a would-be-king and heir of the Bonaparte title.

Book measures c. 7 5/8" H x 4 3/4".  154 pp.
