Companion to the Trial of Effie Deans & The Heart of Mid-Lothian - 1850
The front cover is gilt stamped, "Companion of the Trial of Effie Deans." Based on the binding cloth and style, we'd estimate the date to be c. 1850s. The frontis lists "Terms of Subscription," for this work and related engravings, however, the text is titled "The Heart of the Mid-Lothian,". 161 pp. of text. Publisher's embossed cloth binding. Text block is clean with very light foxing. A dramatic and intricate wood engraving with key prior to the text depicts a scene of murder and the apprehension of suspect which relates to the story. A nice example thus. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
