The Arabian Nights' Entertainments - 1853
518 pp. A delightful period publishers decorative green cloth binding with many charming woodcuts within. Spine blindstamped and ruled in 4 compartments, title and publisher in gilt at top and bottom compartments, blindstamped device in other two; spine gently worn at head and tail, cloth color softly faded. Boards blindstamped with vine - like pattern, central blindstamped device present; front board has a small sticker within the central device but it could be removed with a few minutes time, corner cloth a little chipped. Mostly clean internally with "nearly one hundred" wood cuts interspersed throughout the text. A text page or two are a bit smudged, an even light age-toning is viewed
thoroughout, some light to mild foxing, but overall textblock is clean and tight. A nice pre-Civil War American example of this classic in an early publishers cloth binding. Uncommon.
Book measures c. 6 1/8" W x 9 3/8" H.
